Does walking your dog feel like a battle?

Do you kind of dread taking your dog for walks? Do you have to walk at midnight or 6 AM in order to avoid meltdowns? Do you find that both you and your dog are more riled up after the walk than before?
Whether your dog is barking, lunging, snapping, spinning, cowering, chasing, freezing, staring, or lying down in protest - we can help you teach them to manage their big feelings and get you both moving again.
We can help!
Imagine walking your dog without having to keep an eye out for trouble. Your dog walks beside you on a loose leash. They see a dog or a bicycle or a rabbit and - instead of reacting - they turn to look at you. You give them a treat for making the right choice. And then you get to keep walking.
Yes it is possible - even for your dog!
Hi! My name is Logan and I'm a certified professional dog trainer (CPDT-KA) as well as a certified high school teacher (OCT). I've been there with my own reactive dogs and I know how exhausting it can be to try to meet their needs while juggling my own busy schedule. I also know how lonely it can feel to have a dog that is wonderful at home and an unpredictable mess on their walks.
The good news is - you don't have to live this way forever.
I've been working primarily with reactive dogs since 2021 and I've helped many families go from overwhelmed, embarrassed, and disappointed to being able to relax while enjoying their walk with their dog. Some of them have even gone on to take group classes and do sports! You can do this too.

Initial Consult
This is a 45 min meeting via Zoom where we will discuss your dog, your family, your living situation, and your goals. We will go over expectations for the training program and determine if we are a good fit to continue.
Reactive Dog Video Course
This is a series of 5 videos, each 20-30 min long, which covers the basics of reactive dog training.
Topics covered are:
-
Theory: What reactivity is, how stress works, and how counter conditioning helps
-
Exposure Games: games to play IN the reactive moment
-
Decompression Games: games to play AFTER the reactive moment
-
Escape Games: Games to play to AVOID the reactive moment
-
How It All Fits Together with a walk survival strategy
This 1h 45min pre-recorded video series is yours to keep and will remain available to you as long as Moonbeam Dog Training has a functional website. We encourage you to rewatch it!
Private Lessons
These are 45 min lessons conducted at your home and in your neighbourhood. We will be practicing the skills from the Reactive Dog Video Course in your usual environment. After your lesson, you will receive a short summary of what we covered as well as up to 3 things to focus on before your next lesson.
Private lessons are offered in packages of 3 lessons and we suggest that you schedule your lessons 2 weeks apart. Please note that packages expire 10 weeks after purchase. In order to support you and your dog's success, we do not provide single lesson options.
If you sign up for an additional set of 3 In-Home Private Lessons, you also get access to 3 Virtual Office Hours. These are optional opportunities to ask questions of your trainer and to listen to the questions of other students.

Rainbow Group Field Trips
Rainbow Group Field Trips are a members-only group outing to a public location so that we can work on our dogs' feelings in a semi-controlled setting. When you and your dog are ready, your trainer will invite you to the Rainbow Field Trips program.
Every team in the Field Trip will receive:
-
A walkie-talkie so that your trainer can provide direction and instruction
-
A colour coded bandana indicating how close other people/dogs can get to you
-
A quick pep-talk at the start
-
A quick debrief at the end
-
Approximately 30 min of working time
We plan to start doing field trips in Spring 2026.
Field Trips are a fantastic way to translate your practice to real life. Plus you get to help other reactive dogs at the same time!
