Moonbeam Dog Training

Moonbeam Dog Training was founded in 2025 by Logan Beauregard. We run private dog training lessons in the comfort of your home and neighbourhood.

We serve the neighbourhoods of Nepean, Barrhaven, and Riverside South. We have limited availability for lessons outside of our service area and those are subject to a travel fee.

My name is Logan Beauregard (he/him/his, il/lui) and I am the owner/founder of Moonbeam Dog Training.

My dog training journey began with my first dog when I was 26. I thought I was ready - my first word was “chien” after all! - but my shepherd mix Libby quickly showed me all the things that I did not know. Shortly after, I added my Czech German shepherd Obi and he completely changed my life. Even though both my shepherds have since passed, they shaped who I am as a trainer, and I use those lessons every day with my Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Perry.

I have been training dogs professionally since 2017 and started teaching group classes in 2018. I have been fortunate to work full-time as a dog trainer and group class instructor since the pandemic.

I like to think of myself as a teacher of the subject of dog training. My goal is to help you understand your dog and to live in cooperation with them. I appreciate my human students just as much as my dog students and I love to adjust my strategies based on what the human learners need most.

I specialize in dogs with big feelings, often called reactive dogs, whether they are afraid or excited. I want these dogs to learn to calm down, handle their big feelings better, and get to explore more of the world with their devoted humans by their side.

Our Team

Dog Training Methods

We use force free methods and follow the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) approach to dog training. With fearful and/or aggressive dogs, we focus on counter conditioning to help them shift their feelings about their triggers. Once they are able to think and make choices, we use a combination of positive reinforcement (giving them something they like) and, rarely, negative punishment (removing access to what they like) in order to shift their behaviour.

We do not use punitive devices like choke chains, prong collars, electronic/shock collars, or ultrasonic devices. We do not use physical force, pain or intimidation to get your dog to comply.

We use management like leashes, harnesses, and head halters to gently physically limit your dog’s choices until they can make them on their own. We may also use visual barriers to limit your dog’s exposure especially if they are getting overwhelmed.
